Business consulting for owners who want answers, not slide decks

We sit with you for two days, pull your numbers apart, and hand you a costed plan you can act on within the month. Based in Northern Ireland, working across the UK.

Four steps from confusion to a working plan

Most consulting firms send a junior analyst with a questionnaire. We send a partner who has run businesses before. Here is what the first engagement looks like:

The diagnostic call (30 minutes, free)

You tell us what keeps you up at night. We ask about revenue, team size, margins and your last twelve months of trading. If we think we can help, we schedule the deep-dive. If not, we say so and point you to someone better suited.

On-site deep-dive (two days)

We come to your premises. We interview key staff, review your P&L, walk through your operations, and map where cash leaks out. This is not a clipboard audit: we sit in on sales calls, watch the warehouse, shadow the finance process.

The 90-day action document

Within five working days you receive a document with costed recommendations, ordered by impact. Each action has an owner, a deadline and a projected financial effect. We cap it at fifteen actions because more than that paralyses a small team.

Monthly check-in (three months)

A one-hour video call each month to review progress, remove blockers and adjust the plan. After three months you either continue with us on a retained basis or carry on independently. About 60% of clients choose to carry on alone, which we take as a compliment.

Consulting areas we take on

Margin and pricing review

We find the products or services you sell at a loss without realising it. In one recent engagement, a 22-person manufacturer discovered that three of its best-selling lines carried negative gross margin once delivery and returns were factored in. We repriced them and gross profit rose 11% in one quarter.

Team structure and hiring

Growing from ten to thirty staff is where most SMEs break. Roles blur, accountability vanishes, and the founder ends up doing three jobs. We design a structure that fits your revenue, write the job specs, and sit in on final interviews if you want a second opinion.

Sales process overhaul

If your pipeline lives in someone's head or in a spreadsheet with fourteen tabs, we can help. We map the buyer journey, define stages, set conversion benchmarks and recommend a CRM that fits your budget. Average implementation time: six weeks.

Cash-flow forecasting

We build a rolling 13-week cash-flow model tailored to your payment cycles. You will know, week by week, when you can invest and when you need to hold. The model updates in under ten minutes each Friday.

Operational efficiency

Wasted hours hide in approvals, duplicated data entry, and meetings that should be emails. We time-study your core processes and redesign them. One logistics client saved 14 staff-hours per week after we consolidated three dispatch systems into one.

Lead consultant at Keen Biz Guidance

Straight talk from someone who has been in your chair

Our lead consultant spent twelve years running a distribution company in Belfast before selling it in 2017. She knows what it feels like to make payroll by the skin of your teeth and to wonder whether a new hire will pay for themselves. That experience shapes every recommendation we make: if we would not do it with our own money, we will not suggest you do it with yours.

The wider team includes a chartered accountant, a former operations director from the food sector, and a marketing strategist who specialises in B2B service businesses. We pull in the right person for the engagement rather than staffing every project the same way.

Things people ask before they sign up

The diagnostic call is free. The two-day deep-dive plus 90-day plan and three monthly check-ins costs £4,200 + VAT for businesses with up to 50 employees. Larger organisations receive a scoped quote after the diagnostic call.

Yes. About a third of our clients are in England and Scotland. The deep-dive is always in person, so we travel to you. The monthly check-ins happen over video regardless of location.

Manufacturing, professional services, wholesale distribution, and construction are where we have the deepest experience. We have also worked with hospitality businesses and tech start-ups at the scaling stage. If your sector is outside our knowledge, we will tell you on the diagnostic call.

The standard engagement is advisory: we hand you the plan and support you through the monthly calls. If you want hands-on implementation, such as running a CRM migration or restructuring your finance function, we offer that as a separate retained service priced by the day.

The three check-ins are included in the fee, so there is no saving from skipping them. That said, if you feel you do not need them, we will not force a meeting on you. We just ask that you keep the option open in case a question comes up mid-quarter.

A fractional executive joins your team part-time and takes ownership of a function. We do something different: we diagnose, plan and leave. Think of it as a focused intervention rather than an ongoing role. Some clients hire a fractional CFO after our engagement because we helped them see the need for one.
